RAVIN Crossbow Package for High-Performance Archery and Hunting

BUYER BEWARE! Ravin will not honor repair costs on defective crossbow. I purchased this crossbow as a Xmas gift to my dad. He is a hardcore hunter and wanted to try hunting with crossbow for a change. This year has been raining alot so once the weather calm down my dad took the crossbow to get it sighted and to target practice. The string on the crossbow snap/broke on the 5th arrow. Keep in mind, my father is not a newbie. He has been using other crossbow and knows how to use it. I contacted Ravin and they advise me to contact their dealer repaired shop in my area to have it looked at. Their dealer shop will inspect it, order parts, and fix it. And then will advise what will be covered under product’s 5 year warranty. After the repairs were done, the dealer repair shop advised me I had to contact crossbowdepot.com as the repairs were not covered. They stated they could only repair and could not determine why it broke. So basically, they didn’t even try to figure it out. They only wanted to get paid for the repairs and didn’t make any effort to inspect it for the defect. Was also told by the dealer shop that had I purchased it from them, they would have repaired it at no cost. Pretty much telling me I’m SOL for buying it at crossbowdepot.com. Dealer stated since I bought it thru crossbowdepot.com, it was crossbowdepot.com that needed to cover my repair cost since I purchased it from them. crossbowdepot.com, initially stated they would not cover the repairs but would allow me to return the crossbow for a full refund which was appreciated. However, I would be out of pocket $260 for the repair cost and crossbowdepot.com would not pay for that. I again, contact Ravin by email. Provided invoice, pictures and reciepts. Advise them to reinburse me for the cost of the repairs as I follow their instructions. I still do want to keep the crossbow as it was a gift to my father. Instead my request was denied and they will only send me a box of arrows for my incovenience. So beware of buying such an expensive item from crossbowdepot.com. My gripe is not with crossbowdepot.com but with Ravin. This was brand new crossbow, never open, and kept in door until it was ready to be used. Ravin sold a defective item and refuse to cover for the repairs. Was given the run arounds. This was not a $12 item that I can simply throw away. Paid over $1300 after taxes so you can see how dissapointed I was with Ravin’s customer service for selling a defective crossbow. Will never buy Ravin products again.
