Description Also known as: Trinidad Flame Bush, Red Tassel Flower, Mexican Flame Bush, and Red Powder Puff Family: Fabaceae The dainty leaves are much smaller than the common powder puff tree and it makes this plant perfect for Bonsai. This species also blooms on and off throughout the year. The flowers are deep scarlet red and attract hummingbirds. It grows approximately 6-8 feet. It prefers to grow in partial sun and needs average water. It can be grown in the ground in tropical locations or in a container. All photos were taken of our mature mother plants in bloom, not of the plants for sale. ****Like most powder puff, this plant has leaves that close up together at night. This means that you may receive a plant with closed leaves due to being confined in a box for several days. Once given fresh air and some light, the leaves will open and lay flat again.
